Printing at MGTL

Equipment: Our Total Lithography printing division has five- and six-color sheet fed presses to 40" with inline aqueous coating, a computer-to-plate work flow, and extensive production, pre-press, bindery, shipping and other support operations.

Procedure: After final pre-press proofs are approved and returned, plates are generated and a press time assigned. If you prefer to be present when your job is run, your MGTL account representative will schedule a time for a press check and will be at your side during the press approval. We will have the final color proofs and digital bluelines at press-side for reference and swatches of any spot colors you have specified. The first sheets will be ready for you, in register and very close to final color. Any final color adjustments will be dictated by your preferences. A press sheet will be ruled out so you can check position and trim size. When everything meets with your approval and you have signed off on the press sheet, we will provide several press sheets to take with you for reference. If you are not experienced with doing press checks, you will find the MGTL press room staff to be helpful and informative and they will guide you through the process. Our objective is to make sure the finished job meets your expectations, and we'll work with you to make that happen.

Paper samples and mockups: Before you build your files, MGTL can create a paper dummy for reference. This is an important first step on projects that will be die-cut, folded or perfect-bound.

Digital inkjet mockups: To verify that multi-page brochures or die cut pieces such as presentation folders are correct, we can produce a two-sided low-resolution color inkjet that is trimmed and folded to size.

Pre-flight: MGTL can analyze your file with our preflight software and provide a report. Missing fonts, missing or low-res images and incorrect or unwanted colors are just a few of the parameters we check.

Color halftone proofs: Verify color with patch or overall Kodak Digital Matchprints. These can be proofed at the same line screen that will be used for printing.

Digital color proofs: Spreads or single pages up to 17" x 11" can be printed 2-sided on our 12.5 x 19" digital press to create a one-off book. Stock can be coated or uncoated and up to 14 points thick. This is an great way to preview and proofread your project before sending to a vendor, and makes an excellent reference proof to send with your disk.

Print-ready PDF files: MGTL can process your native application files to a print-ready PDF for your vendor.
